FADING WEST - SWITCHFOOT

I am beyond excited for this documentary on Switchfoot! When I was in Anaheim last October, I watched their concert and they shot the whole show for this documentary. And I was so lucky because after the concert, they went back on stage and invited some of the people left in the venue to stay and watch them sing another song because they had to shoot that part again.

I am so in love with this band ever since their first album came out and I will never ever miss this movie, I need to get a copy of this as soon as it comes out!

This tweet and photo made me want to cry of HAPPINESS. Colton Dixon and Jon Foreman in one photo! I love them both!

SWITCHFOOT IN ANAHEIM

One of the highlights of my US vacation was the concert of Switchfoot. I watched them in Manila last 2011, and when I found out that they were playing at the City National Grove of Anaheim while I was in town, I know I just had to watch them again.

The concert was soldout, so I was already losing hope but good thing my friend Isy knew someone from CAA, and she helped us get tickets to the show!

I arrived at the venue an hour before Isy and I were supposed to meet, and while I was in line, the girl in front of me told me that the show that night was going to be filmed for Switchfoot’s movie. She also told me that the band always signs autographs and talks to the people waiting outside just before they board the tourbus.

We were actually near the stage - the whole venue had no seats so we stood in the middle. The only problem is that, most of the people in front of us were too tall we could not see much from where we were standing. But that didn’t stop me from finding ways to take pictures. I was a happy girl all over again, just like the way Switchfoot made me feel when I watched them last year. They played a lot of their hits from their latest album Vice Verses, and some old hits as well. I was again lost in Switchfoot heaven!

After the show, when some of the people already went outside, a guy went out on stage and announced that they will be re-filming a song or two from the concert and we were all invited to stay for it, which we gladly did. Jon Foreman was in his usual high-spirits and talked with the audience for a while before he started to perform again.

After the concert, it was a bit cold outside, but since the girl in front of me in the line earlier told me that the band usually signs autographs, Isy and I waited for the band by the fence at the parking lot behind the venue. After a while, the band members went out one by one, with a sharpie in one hand and I was in awe! They really did come out to chat with each and everyone, signing autographs and posing for pictures! Amazing.  And they were not in a hurry. I was a lucky girl! I had the most interesting conversation with each and everyone of them (except Jerome), and it was funny whenever they would each try and speak some Tagalog words after they’d find out that I am from Manila. They kept on saying that I should meet Jerome, the band member who is a Filipino but unfortunately, we didn’t see him go out of the venue.

When Jon Foreman went to us, I had the most interesting conversation with him. I can’t believe he actually stopped to talk with us for a while (of course he said “Mabuhay” and “isa pa!” when he found out I was Filipino haha). He had blue eyes and blonde eyelashes (I can’t get over the blonde eyelashes part :p), and had a beautiful smile on his face. We also talked about Colton Dixon for a while, and after a few minutes of being deep in thought, he said “I think Colton and I should meet. Can you please tell him I said HI?”. He made feel all warm and fuzzy I had to tell him he was beautiful and I love him (yeah yeah, I am a fangirl, i don’t care) and he smiled, squeezed my hand and said “thank you!”. THAT. MADE. MY. NIGHT.

Thank you Jon Foreman. Thank you Switchfoot for an awesome experience.

And thank you Isy for getting us tickets!

On Fire - Switchfoot

This song is close to my heart.

THE BEST CONCERTS IN MANILA IN 2011

2011 has been a year filled with great concerts from great artists here in Manila. And I was lucky enough to have been able to watch most most of them, especially the artists brought by my cousin Rhiza Pascua of Music Management International (thank you cuz! <3).

Here are some of the best ones - I am not a professional photographer so please forgive me for some blurry photos, which have been surely caused by shaky hands due to too much excitement :p.

1. Bruno Mars - Araneta Coliseum, April 8, 2011

2. Switchfoot - Phil Sports Arena April 30, 2011

3. Maroon 5 - SMX Convention Center, May 23, 2011

4. 30 Seconds To Mars - Mindanao Parking Area Trinoma Mall, 29 July 2011

5. Black Eyed Peas - MOA Concert Grounds, October 25, 2011

I can’t wait for the artists coming next year! And Katy Perry is the first one in January! Woot! I wanna watch her again! <3
